The Rogue's Guidebook to Free Internet in Downtown Vancouver
The Rogue's Guidebook To Free Internet In Downtown Vancouver
The goal of The Rogue’s Guidebook to Free Internet in Downtown Vancouver was to create a free publication for the general public in which tips, tricks, and locations where internet access could be acquired for free when needed. The title of “Rogue’s Guide” was given due to the covert nature of methods provided in the guidebook, all within legality of course, but stepping into the mischievous, as it explains methods to get around certain protocols or counter-measures used to control network access.
As the methods are undoubtedly “sneaky”, the character of the Wi-Fi ninja was created to set the tone and put get the reader into the state of mind to go about acquiring access.
As it is rogue, it was also deemed necessary to hand render the content, to convey the notion of the 'unofficial', making it feel even more unique to the reader, as well as increasing the sense of character personality found within the work. The vertical brick-like texture in the background was used to illustrate the urban nature of being a rogue internet user in the city of Vancouver.
